The Shastri Institute is funded by and collaborates closely with government bodies in both India and Canada. Its aim is to promote a bi-national ethos through various programs that facilitate scholarly research and exchanges between Indian and Canadian universities, cultural organizations, government bodies, and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.





Japan Foundation provides various grant programs under its three different departments Arts and Cultural Exchange, Japanese-Language Education Overseas, and Japanese Studies and Global Partnerships, Japan foundation funded the Japanese Language Course for NITC, which was a comprehensive program that spanned 93 hours. It began with an orientation class to familiarize students with the course structure and expectations. The course consisted of six hours of weekly classes, providing students with consistent learning opportunities. These assessments allowed students to measure their progress and understanding of the Japanese language.
